What is the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program?
S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, and Responsibility. This American Kennel Club–recognized program helps puppies develop essential skills during their most important learning window while also educating owners on responsible, effective training practices.
Upon successful completion, puppies receive AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certification.
In-Person and Online Training Options
To serve families near and far, Ferguson Family Dog Training is expanding our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program to include:
Local, in‑person classes for hands‑on instruction and guided socialization
Online Udemy‑based courses (coming soon) for families adopting puppies from out of the area
Our online courses are designed to mirror the structure, philosophy, and goals of our in‑person training—allowing owners to confidently train at home while still following AKC S.T.A.R. standards. Here’s a sneak-peak at some of the footage and covered topics we are finalizing!
